TfL Licence Delays Compensation Claim

TfL’s licensing delays have left thousands of private hire drivers unable to work, often for many months. The consequences have been devastating. Some drivers have been forced to sell their vehicles, fall into debt, move home, leave the UK, and in at least one tragic case, fellow driver Rob Dale lost his life after suffering extreme stress his family fear was caused by the delays.

Unionised IWGB drivers have campaigned tirelessly to hold TfL to account. Together, we forced TfL to make systemic changes and helped many drivers get back on the road. These victories have not only helped drivers return to work, but have also forced TfL to change its processes, meaning fewer drivers are now affected by licensing delays.

But this is not the end of the story.

For many drivers and their families, the damage caused by TfL’s failures has been long-lasting. Months without income, mounting debt, and severe stress have left people still struggling to rebuild their lives. For some, the financial and emotional impact continues to be felt today.

This is unacceptable. TfL should not be allowed to walk away from the harm they caused.

If you were affected by the delays, please fill out this survey.

It will help us understand:

  • How many drivers were affected
  • Whether a legal claim is possible

About the claim:

IWGB drivers campaigned tirelessly to hold TfL to account. We forced them to make important changes and helped thousands of drivers to get back on the road.

Now, we are taking steps to explore a legal claim that could get affected drivers the compensation they deserve.

At this stage:

  • The case is not confirmed
  • The number of drivers who fill in the survey is very important
  • More drivers means a stronger case

Please complete the survey as soon as possible to help the case move forward.

Important information:

  • It’s completely free to sign up.
  • You won’t have to pay any money now, or later
  • The legal fees will be covered by a small commission taken from any compensation you win

Once you have filled out the form:

  • The information will go to law firm Leigh Day
  • Leigh Day may contact you later if the claim goes aheadFilling it out does not commit you to legal action, but it could help make justice possible for thousands of drivers. No data will be shared outside of the IWGB and Leigh Day.

There is sadly no guarantee that this claim will go ahead, so - as well as completing the survey - you need to join us in action. To ask how you can get involved, contact us on uphd@iwgb.co.uk

Do you know other drivers who could join this claim? Tell your friends and colleagues about the survey, and ask them to fill it out to have their voices heard.
