JOB OPPORTUNITY - Foster Care Worker Branch Co-ordinator

The Foster Care Workers Branch of the IWGB is excited to announce we are hiring a Branch Coordinator. The branch has members across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland that are organising to change the foster care system. We have a system of locally elected committees in Regional Groups, with ever increasing demand for new groups. We are looking for someone to support our organising and coordinate the work of elected officials.

The role will be based in our Glasgow office. The person will work an initial 3 days (7 hours a day) a week but with the potential to increase in the future.

Duties will include:

  • Coordinating existing and new Regional Groups.
  • Monitoring and responding to queries on our foster care workers support email address.
  • Working with the Case Work Officer to support and develop a network of reps across the UK.
  • Helping to organise campaigns/protests, including coordinating with the press team.
  • Researching and collating information as necessary to further our aims and promote our campaigns. This will include submitting FOI requests and liaising with other stakeholders.
  • Providing administrative support to the branch committee, including booking travel and accommodation for committee members as necessary.

Specification

Essential

  • Grasp the IWGB’s approach and be personally committed to social justice and the improvement of working conditions
  • A high level of personal organisation
  • Admin experience

Desirable

  • Case work experience
  • Knowledge of the foster care system
